New Objet Trouvé collection is out

I’ve mentioned here and there about us creating some up-cycled vintage plates. We’ve been wanting to get the collection out for a very long time, but jewellery is keeping us so busy, that it’s only now that we have managed to get it together:)

So it’s all out in the open…our up-cycled vintage plates are now displayed on our website and available for viewing and purchasing.

Firstly, let me explain the name of the collection. Objet Trouvé or Found Object describes art created from undisguised, but often modified objects or products that are not normally considered art, often because they already have a non-art function. There’s an entire article on Wikipedia if you like to read a bit more.

So what we’ve done (in very simple terms), we found some vintage plates, added onto them some images, combining old, new and some fragments from our jewellery, fired them in a temperature of 800 C (most of the plates had to undergo 5 or more firings), which made the design permanent. In reality this was a very labour intensive process, which took many hours and days to complete. And I really hope you like the final results…

Most of the plates have some images added to their back too, to make the designs even more fun. Here’s one of them: decorated with an Iris flower and deconstructed traditional British imagery at the back:

These plates can be displayed as an object of art, but are also perfectly functional for serving a meal. As with all things vintage, some of the plates might have wear signs like cracks in the glaze, chips or some faded patterns. But I think they just add to the charm.

Jolita necklace featured in Grazia Middle East

I was very excited when I found out that our Bohemian Glass necklace with skulls has been featured in Grazia Middle East April issue.

The story features a number of items available from the trendy S*uce boutique in Dubai, including our necklace.

This is our traditional Bohemian style necklace, except that we replaced the two middle size tear drops with skulls.

New glamorous statement skull earrings

Not so long ago I introduced a new addition to our collection – Disco Skull Earrings.

When my brother made the very first pair I took an instant liking to them. We are both big fans of skulls (don’t ask, don’t know why, that’s just the way it is) and paired with glamorous crystals for me it was just a match made in heaven. Something glamorous, yet with an edge.

These particular earrings were so popular that we sold out very quickly, hence at the moment we are out of stock. However fear not! Until they are back in stock we have a new pair of glamorous skull earrings.

The new pair is made with clear crystals, with a dash of neon at the centre, and embellished with brass skulls, dipped in gold. The crystals also are dipped in gold for a beautiful rich finish.

I also took a side shot of these earrings to show how thin the skulls are. Not the best shot, but gives an idea.

Colourful braided cuffs with flowers, bugs and skulls

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend. Today I wanted to showcase some of our braided cuffs in beautiful colours.

We made a few of them before, but up until now all customers wanted them in a silver grey braid. However we now made some in other colours, which allows to showcase the variety and gives some more thoughts for your imagination:)

All cuffs are embellished with handmade silk flowers, which also are available in an array of colours. Some cuffs are adorned with dipped in gold colourful bugs, some have rhinestones or a skull in the centre of the flower.

New colourful and funky skull earrings

Happy Saturday! Hope your weekend started well. I had an incredibly busy week (as always), which apart from dealing with loads of queries and attending meetings also included trying on jewellery and taking pictures. I like going to meet new customers as then I get to talk a lot about our beautiful jewellery and boast about my brother’s talent. Needless to say I also like trying on all the jewellery

So today I wanted to introduce our two new pairs of super cool Disco Scull earrings. Well at least I think they are super cool:)

One pair is made with crystals and white hand-carved skulls. Another pair is slightly longer in length and is embellished with pink coral dahlias. Both are dipped in gold for luxurious rich finish.

Aren’t they just a delight ? I really love them, they are light, glamorous and skulls give them a certain edge.

Colourful handmade silk corsages and how to wear them

Happy Saturday! Hope your weekend started well and you have some nice plans. I am particularly excited as fingers crossed tomorrow we will have the promised sunshine and +19.  Hopefully it will be as predicted.

This week’s weather wasn’t extremely nice. Although it finally started getting a bit milder torrential rains and grey skies don’t really scream of a spring. So what one’s got to do? If there’s no Spring outside, we create the spring ourselves:) And we’ve done this by making some beautiful silk flower corsages.

These corsages are incredibly versatile and if you are creative, you can come up with a number of ways to wear them. Here are a few I could think off.

For the most conventional look – you can fasten one on the lapel of the jacket. If you wear shirts, one or two of them will look pretty interesting pinned to the collar.

To accentuate your waist – wear it by pining it to a cardigan at a waist line .

Got a blouse or a jacket that you adore, but is too big? Fold a pleat and fasten it with a brooch.

If you are a hat lover – pin one to the side of your hat. It will also do well by keeping your scarf in place.

Got an unexpected invite out -liven up your T-shirt with a brooch.

Attach one to your belt or a key ring and even a handbag. You can also create a different look by pinning one to your necklace or a bracelet.

A brighter Bohemian glass statement necklace

How’s your week..? Hope all is well? Mine is a tiny bit frustrating as the hosting company can’t sort out the ongoing issues I have with my emails. In addition to that unfortunately my brother is suffering from a very bad back and is unable to move…so that means not only he’s in terrible pain, but also no jewellery is being created…

Fingers crossed he gets better soon and meanwhile I wanted to introduce a new version of Bohemian Glass necklace.

Here’s the very first version, made with royal blue braid. 

I think it’s one of my favourite pieces, it looks very luxurious and the colour combination is just great: the amber colour of the crystals, the gold-plated stones and a hint of gold in the braid, combined with royal blue – a sheer luxury. We also made this piece with skulls instead of two crystals, just to express our love for skulls:)

And very recently we have dyed some silk in beautiful bright cobalt blue which makes this necklace stand out even more.

We can make a statement piece that You like

Our jewellery showcase event at Dadu store was a great success, I am so excited. We had great feedback from the customers, getting loads of requests from the ladies that haven’t managed to get the piece they wanted, so a wonderful reward for our hard work. I’d like to share pictures of some of the jewels we created for this event, but before I do that there are a couple of things I wanted to mention.

If anyone is interested in getting a piece made in a choice of your colours – please get in touch as early as possible. We are working hard to fulfil the demand and we want to make sure that everyone gets their necklace, earrings, bracelets ASAP:)

New addition to our statement bangles collection

I love love love the statement bangles that my brother makes. I’ve already declared my love to them in some previous posts, but I have a new love. And that’s our Maharajah bangle. What a mysteriously glorious name too!!

As with all our statement bangles, this one is too made with a myriad of new and up-cycled components. For example I really like the sound of vintage champagne pearls that are liberally scattered around this statement piece.

Others include vintage rhinestones, hand-painted in various colours like yellow, bright red, neon or hand-carved lotus flower beads to name just a few.
The piece wouldn’t be complete without our beloved skulls, that can be found in red and white….

Entire bangle is bound with hand-dyed silk. It’s interior is lined with luxuriously soft velvet, which snuggly sits on your wrist, and stitched with vintage gold thread, dating from 1960ies.

Inspired by tribal jewellery worn by women in Oman it’s a true showstopper and my new favourite! As with all our statement bangles this is a one-of-a-kind piece that I can guarantee you will get people talking.

Jolita Jewellery event at Dadu store

I am incredibly excited to let everyone know that we are having Jolita Jewellery event at Dadu store in Jeddah.

The event is set to start on the 17th of November at 5pm and will last for 3 days.

We made an array of beautiful statement necklaces, bracelets and earrings in a multitude of wonderful colours. I don’t want to spoil the surprise so bellow is just a little glimpse on what to expect…
